The IARPotHP is a consortium of international specialists in the field of Hellenistic pottery. Our goal is to promote research as well as expand and spread knowledge of this field. The IARPotHP was founded in the fall of 2011 on the initiative of Zoi Kotitsa by a group of seven archaeologists (Guy Ackermann, Andrea Berlin, Pia Guldager Bilde, Patricia Koegler, Zoi Kotitsa, John Lund, Annette Peignard-Giros) from six countries (Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Switzerland, USA). It has its seat in Würzburg/Germany and is an independent, non-profit organization.

The IARPotHP promotes lively communication between experts from all countries where scientific study of Hellenistic pottery takes place and where archaeological evidence of ceramics of the Hellenistic period exists. The IARPotHP therefore sees its main tasks as the establishment, promotion and intensification of contacts between scientists at an international level, as well as the collection and dissemination of information regarding research concerning ceramics of the Hellenistic period.
As the published corpus of Hellenistic pottery has significantly augmented in the last four decades and the interest of scholars gradually increased, our association creatively contributes towards the research and complex study of Hellenistic ceramics with:
1. an annual bibliography on Hellenistic pottery,
2. links on pottery databases through our web site,
3. a communication platform through the organization of conferences at regular intervals, every two years.

The IARPotHP supports integrating the study of Hellenistic pottery in university teaching and placing it on an equal footing with other categories of archaeological material. A particular interest of the Association is the support of PhD-students in this field. Thus, the IARPotHP sees itself as a professional organization whose aim is to strengthen and improve the position of researchers and students working on pottery of the Hellenistic period.
